The top of the ladder mounts to the roof rack while the bottom secures around the van’s pinch weld
The ladder can be install on either side of the van, between the front and rear wheels
The FVC roof rack has pre-drilled holes at the rear for mounting the ladder. If you'd like to install it elsewhere, simply drill two holes into the roof rack side rail to align with the top of the ladder — which is what I did
-
Having a permanent ladder means anyone could potentially access the roof
In four years on the road, I’ve personally never experienced this being an issue
A non-permanent option includes storing a telescoping ladder in your van to use when needed
-
I chose not to install a rear door ladder because it would obstruct visibility out of my rear windows and wouldn’t align with my roof deck placement
Telescoping ladder (non-permanent)
-
Yes, I’d install the same ladder in the same location — behind the driver’s door, aligned with my roof deck.
