Backsplash
Backsplash
-
1/4” Baltic Birch Plywood Backe
2” Green Hexagonal Mosaic Tile
-
To make the kitchen space feel more like a kitchen
A separate “room” in the van
Add a pop of color and geometric design
-
Preplan tile placement before starting
To cut the tile, use a wet saw or handheld tile cutter
Pay attention to recommended line sizes for the adhesive
Use unsanded grout for small spaces between tiles
Use a rubber float to push the tile firmly in place
Use a sponge and water to remove excess grout and clean tiles
-
For smaller sized tile, mosaic tile is easiest to work with
People are often scared to install real tile in a moving vehicle, but I haven’t had any issues and I haven’t heard of others having issues after the fact too
-
Peel and stick
Doesn’t stay up well especially with the change climate in the van
No backsplash, just continue your wall
-
I LOVE my backsplash. It adds a fun shape and color, is easy to clean and makes the van feel more like a home.
Control Panel
-
A removable control panel with light switches, outlets and rocker switches
-
There is a lot of wiring behind this wall. If something goes wrong, I need a way to access the wires to fix it.
-
I used ball catch latches on the back of the control panel and the furring strips behind the wall
-
Highly recommend making removable pieces throughout your build that cover a lot of wires. This will save you down the road if anything goes wrong or needs to be changed.
